M. Ward Links
Although M. Ward's offical page is brief it is a good source of official information and I use it as a reference for this site. Stop by and visit.
M. Ward has a myspace page with a lot of great friends, some music, and current news.
Record Company Links
Merge Records is a great place to visit and check out other great indie artists as well as some M. Ward info. I would like you to consider joining this forum as opposed to the Merge M. Ward Forum because I believe in time this site and forum will become a more dedicated exclusive M. Ward venue.
Matador Records released M. Ward's Transistor Radio and has a little section on their page. Some of my favorite bands have at one time been on Matador or continue to work with them.
M. Ward has released Post War in Europe with 4AD Records. A big shout out to the many fans from the UK and whole of Europe who listen to his music, support him and his shows and stop by postward.
Buy Used and New M. Ward
Purchasing M. Ward's music will help him more than if you steal it. Purchasing it through this site will help me host without advertising which is really the aim here.
Interviews and Live in Studio
M. Ward stopped by NPR and did four live songs and an interview with David Dye. M.Ward: Making The Personal Universal. Monday October 30th, 2006. I thought it was really good and really worth a listen.
NPR's Tom Moon reviewed Transistor Radio on Wednesday February 23rd, 2005. It's a short interesting listen.
KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic had M. Ward in studio Tuesday March 29th, 2005. He is supporting Transistor Radio and most of the show he is doing live tracks with the band. It's really a nice little set and I have the link for you right here.
I dug a little deeper and found a real gem out of the same KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic vault. Mr. Ward stopped by Thursday May 6th, 2004. He does a brilliant version of Carolina, maybe my personal favorite. This is one of the best studio sit-ins. Here is the link, enjoy.
Back to the NPR vault I heard this live show in Maryland at the Merriweather Post Pavillion recorded September 27th, 2005 a while back and forgot about it until just recently when I was putting this site togther. He was opening for White Stripes and it was broadcast on All Songs Considered. Check it out.
NPR and M.Ward are developing a pretty robust history. They named Post War one of the top ten records of the year for 2006. I found this NPR Weekend Edition interview with M. from Saturday June 26th, 2004. He talks about the Transfiguration of Vincent and plays Outta My Head. Here it is.
On September 14th, 2006 M. was in NYC for the AOL Interface Session. He does a couple old, couple new, and fields some of the usual questions. Here you are.
I will refer you over to acousticwood.net to hear M. Ward July 29th, 2004 Carrboro Cat's Cradle 15th Anniversary for Merge Records. I thought the Bob Dylan cover Forever Young toast that M. did for merge was interesting but overall the set was a bit off.
If you want to see a video of M.Ward as his usually understated self on mtvu jump from here. It's about five minutes and worth a look.
The Morning Becomes Eclectic loves M. Ward! He stops by all the time. This is from September 28th 2006 before the wonderful show he played at the Henry Fonda in Los Angeles.
